Our founder, Maurice Sclar, moved to the Frederick area in 1918 to start his business. Since then, four generations of Sclar family members have lived in the Frederick area and headed the Reliable Recycling Center. We also employ area residents helping to improve the local economy.

Reliable Recycling Center was founded in 1918. We’re not some fly-by-night operation; we’ve been here for over 100 years! Members of the Frederick community, both businesses and individuals, have been bringing their scrap metal to us for decades. They trust us, and you should, too!
Recycling is Good for the Environment
It takes a lot of energy to mine, refine, and create a completely new metal. When you recycle a metal, it can be melted down and reused for another product. This process requires much less energy than the initial creation of the metal, saving the environment. Additionally, metals can be reused indefinitely, and the more metal that is melted down and re-purposed, the less metal will be mined from the earth.
This prevents the destruction of ecosystems, as well as the release of harmful toxins caused by mining operations.
We Make It Easy
Bring us your metals. We will then weigh them and pay you. The process is as simple as that! Most customers are in and out in 15 minutes or less! If you have large amounts of metal to recycle, we also offer roll-off containers delivered to your location.
Your materials are weighed by state-certified scales. Prices depend on the purity of the metal as well as global market value at the time of drop-off.
